ROUNDHEGIANS AFC FOOTBALL REPORTS

TEAM: 1ST

DATE: 12/03/2005

Attendance: 4 plus two dogs, three rabbits, and a couple of moles who popped up tp say hello!

Report: A thoroughly well deserved win for Hegians who dominated throughout. The front five of Kelly, Pinkerton, Hutchinson, Vicente, and Berti tore through the defense like a blade through candyfloss. Liam Kelly broke the deadlock after world class play by Lu the Su Pinkerton. Other goals by Pinks and Pater ensured Hegians eased to a win despite the narrow margin, The defense was solid including a great display bt Tommy "the Gun" Brownrigg!

1st vs Trinity

One of the best performances of the season by Roundhegians, but without the killer instinct to give us the three points. Hegians controlled the first half with a solid display by the back three & keeper, strong tackling in midfield and tricky one touch football in attack. Christian Vicente, Mark Hutchinson & Lu Pinkerton causing problems for the back three of TAS. But the half ended nil nil without any real clear-cut chances for either side.

Second half and Hegians came out with the same appetite and energy only to be undone by a goal from a set piece by TAS midway through half. A corner was partially cleared but the 2nd ball was deflected off the shin of Alan Pater and then the post to sneak in. Hegians rallied and threw everything but the kitchen sink at TAS, even hitting the bar after a wonderful save by the TAS keeper from a shot by Si Taylor. Game was wrapped up by TAS in the last couple of minutes when Jules mis-kicked a clearance straight into the feet of the TAS striker to tap the ball into a empty net. Game over 2-0.

Hegians take that spirit to the remaining games and they will be surely safe?

Man of match: Imran Mughal

Other scores:
Reserves did not play.

Thirds lost 4 : 1 against Wheelwrights , with Dave Braddock bagging the only goal.

Fourths lost 4 : 1 to Collegians. Eamon Tweede put his name on the score sheet for Roundhegians.

Sunday's team against Manston away - a 4 : 1 win with Hegians Pinkerton and Hutchinson scoring two each.

1st vs. Centralians

ROUNDHEGIANS AFC FOOTBALL REPORTS

TEAM: 1ST

DATE: 12-Feb-2005

HOME/AWAY: Away

AGAINST: Centralians

SCORE: 1 v 3

SCORERS FOR HEGIANS: Gareth Houghton

Attendance: 25

Report: A hard fought encounter, which was highly influenced by the conditions. Centralians took the lead and had more of the attacking play in the first half, but Roundhegians'
enterprising attack combined with a determined midfield and solid defence, showed
more quality and incisiveness in their forrays forward. An own goal, Christiano Vicente
and Hutchinson goal gave Roundhegians a victory. Liam Kelly was shit hot!

Sunday vs. Partizan 99

TEAM: Sunday team
DATE: 6th Feb 2005
HOME/AWAY: Away
AGAINST: Partizan 99
SCORE: 2 v 1

SCORERS FOR HEGIANS: Gareth Houghton

MAN OF THE MATCH: N/A

Attendance: 20

Report: The game was dominated by Hegians in the first half with the pick of misses being being Bernie's, 2 yards out of goal, pumped over the top! At half time, the scoreline was a nil draw. Partizan started the second half brighter scoring first, but with a quick reply from Gareth Houghton. Partizan scored again and from the re-start Hegians went straight to the other end to hit the post. The Partizan keeper pulled off save after save, and Hegians just couldn't find the back of the net. Could it now be all over for the title challenge?
