Duty Days

We aim to provide a free hot meal and a safe environment for all players. We need parents from each team to help when there are home games. DUTY DAYS for Minis are indicated on the fixture list.

DUTY DAYS for Juniors will be allocated on a monthly basis. Please contact your year group representative and offer to help when it is your turn.

Parents Introduction to youth rugby

Volunteering

We can always provide opportunities for parents who want to get involved beyond spectating and committee members are always keen to include anyone with time and skills to offer. We encourage people to pair-up and share tasks so you would not be on your own.

Training & Development

If you want to get involved in coaching we will pay for you to take an appropriate RFU course. Speak to your Year Group Representative who will liaise with The Club Coaching Co-ordinator, Dave Miller. If you want to help with First Aid, speak to Bev Flynn.

Child Welfare

We have a Child Protection Policy, as required by The Rugby Football Union. All coaches and first aiders together with anyone likely to be in close contact with children must complete a CRB check through the RFU. Stephen Clark will advise where necessary. Costs are borne by the RFU.

Safety

Coaches will advise parents on what protective clothing is available. Headguards and correctly-fitted gum shields offer important protection. We strongly advise against the use of bladed boots and encourage parents to buy boots with traditional aluminium studs.

Bad weather

If you are in any doubt about whether a match or coaching is likely to take place please give your coach a ring. The onus is on you to find out! When pitches are very wet or frostbound rugby will be cancelled for safety reasons. We also have to limit damage to the pitches wherever possible because they are so intensively used. Please show understanding in the event of cancellations.
