What is a Garryowen?

When a player kicks huge high ball to force the opposition to catch – usually close to the 22-metre line – hoping for a fumble or tackle that will give them possession.

Probably named after a district in the city of Limerick, Ireland, which has a rugby club of the same name.

What is meant by ‘against the head’?

In a scrum, if the side not putting the ball in wins.

It is normally expected that the side putting the ball in will win it.
